Healing the Mountain Man’s Heart by Misty M. Beller is an action-packed historical romance chock full of Christian themes. Dinah and her sister Naomi travel to meet Jericho Coulter, a man who seemingly placed an advertisement for a mail-order bride, but amid the confusion Dinah, a doctor, saves the life of one of Jericho’s brothers, and the reclusive Jericho must learn to trust the sisters as Dinah must stay and provide medical care for his young brother.

What I love about this story the fact that there is plenty of action; no one is just sitting around moony-eyed and pining. This is the wild frontier, with all of its hardships. Beller also does an excellent job of showing Jericho’s chivalry and protective nature rather than telling. I cheered mentally when Jericho comes to his senses about his feelings for Dinah. The race against time during the climax had my heart racing and my fingers itching to turn the next page so I could see how it would be resolved. Overall, the story is amazing.

Proofreading perspective: There were several misspelled words, such as “to” instead of “too” and “new” rather than “knew,” and one spot where a quotation mark was formatted incorrectly. Normally these errors would warrant the knocking off of a star, but the strength of the story made up for the mistakes.
