Any Girl But You, Dana Hawkins

Any Girl But You by Dana Hawkins is a meet-cute sapphic romance set during the holiday season in a small town in Minnesota. The story follows Quinn Lee, a New York executive assistant who decides to sink her life savings into her family’s failing Christmas tree farm, and Zoey, a soft-hearted baker who is unprepared for the opinionated Quinn when they encounter one another in Zoey’s shop. As their respective businesses face challenges as the holidays approach, the two women form an uneasy partnership, and as they work together, these polar opposites begin to see that differences don’t necessarily mean incompatibility.

I cheered on the protagonists all the way through the book—both were extremely likable characters and were well rounded. The relationship between the main characters felt natural, not forced. The climax had me genuinely curious as to how Christmas magic would be found in the ending, and I was not disappointed.

From a proofreading perspective: I only found one rogue comma. This book is as perfectly polished as a book can get.
