Book Lovers by T.B. Markinson & Miranda MacLeod

Book Lovers by T.B Markinson and Miranda MacLeod is a sapphic friends-to-lovers romance that started off a little slow but eventually picks up the pacing to a better level. The story is between Bennett, an American librarian who visits Bath for Jane Austen's 250th birthday celebration, and Alice, a British waitress by day, writer by night. The pair meet at the restaurant where Alice works and become close very quickly, spending lots of time together and even striking up a Transatlantic books exchange (Alice is a contemporary fan while Bennett loves the classics) to try out each other's style.

The story itself is very well written, with scenes that had me actually laughing out loud. There were, however, enough errors to keep me from giving it a 5-star rating on Goodreads: a misspelling of the word "Abbey," a incorrect pronoun was used, a missing comma, and several formatting errors. There was a point where one character tells the other everything they did the past few days, as if they both didn't experience it. I understand it was for the reader's benefit, but to list all of that in conversation seemed unrealistic.

The story was very sweet and had enough twists and turns to keep me interested, but the errors pulled me out of the experience enough to make only give this book a 4-star rating on Goodreads.
