I enjoy dissecting a story, exploring the characters, and discussing what happened. That's why I became a beta reader. So, I also write reviews of books when reading published literature for pleasure, and I post them here!
Pieces of Forever by Valerie M. Bodden is a contemporary Christian romance that features Ava, a former model whose beauty has been marred, and Joseph, a veterinarian who misses the high school time he was Ava’s boyfriend. After he finishes college, Joseph returns to River Falls to rekindle his relationship with Ava but finds her a changed woman.
Bodden writes an amazing story of inner beauty and never-ending love. Ava’s insecurities are palpable page after page, and not even Joseph’s steadfast love can help her overcome them. This isn’t a book that calls itself Christian romance while scattering a few verses from the Bible throughout; the author really uses the power of the Gospel to bring the two lovers together into their “happily ever after.” The story also features plenty of dogs—Joseph is a veterinarian, so of course!
This tale is well written, and from a proofreading perspective, other than a few missing commas, the book is polished.
